Compare different approaches
Situation Power Versus Stable Character
One side
Situational and system forces dominate behavior — put people in a broken system and most will act badly regardless of who they are (The Lucifer Effect, Obedience to Authority)
The other
Stable disposition and character drive behavior — identifying and cultivating individual strengths predicts how people act (Understanding Human Nature, Power of Character Strengths)
How to choose. Person vs. situation: The Lucifer Effect and Obedience to Authority argue situational/system power dominates behavior, while Understanding Human Nature and Power of Character Strengths center stable disposition/character.
